As someone who lived in NYC for three years, I must say, I LOVE SAN FRANCISCO CAB DRIVERS! When I was in SF for LoveFest with my friends, my born and raised SF super happy cab driver wanted to know everything about us, as well as tell us everything about him.  Within the space of 5 minutes.  WE ATE IT UP WITH A SPOON.
The NYC cab drivers usually give me a dirty look when I say hello.
SF +1.
scenes-from-my-hood:

this is black and blue magic.
i’d never heard of it, until yesterday, when i had the best cab driver of all time.
i was tired and, in a motif you will see running throughout all blog posts from this month of my life, stressed out and cranky.
the guy who luxor sent to fetch me was a really, really large man with a plaid shirt tied around his head in a sort of turban like fashion and a robust red beard.
i instantly liked him.
we talked about how his shift was going so far, blah blah, and then he told me he was off soon and going to his day job: at green apple books.
only my favorite book store ever!
we compared notes as native san franciscans, and discussed books about the city that properly convey how fucking rad it is.
as i got out of the car, he said “hey lady, you’ve got to read black and blue magic. it’s what harry potter appears to be based on, but better, and set in san francisco.  it will overwhelm you with happiness.”
literally, this is what he said to me, as i exited the cab.
i will be purchasing this book.
